Gore Creek Report

June 18, 2021

FLOW: 210 cfs (Above Red Sandstone Creek, Vail)

WATER CONDITIONS: Clear

FOOD SOURCES PRESENT: Baetis, Caddis, BWO.

THE LOW DOWN:  The Gore is on its way down. The fish are starting to spread out but still look for large structures near banks creating slower water for the fish to hang out in. If you are seeing fish rise every so often try out a dry drop rig..

Appropriate Patterns

DRIES:  Stimulator 14-18, Royal Wulff 14-18, Parachute Adams 16-22, Chubby Chernobyl 14.

NYMPHS:  Hares Ear 14-18, Juju Baetis 18-22, Zebra Midge 20-24, Black Beauty 20-24, Pheasant Tail 14-24, Barr’s Emerger BWO 20-22, Micro May Olive 18-20

STREAMERS: Slump Buster 8, Wooley Bugger 10, Baby Gonga.

HINTS: The Gore right now is not the techy pocket water we normally see, but this time of year there are some big runs that are not normally there either.  In these “new” runs, all of the structure that normally gives us the pocket water during the lower water months is still there, the fish still can be using these structures for feeding lanes.  Fishing heavy can get your flies in front of these fish.
